Want complete creative control over your video workflow before spending generation credits? This guide walks you through how to use Story Canvas to visualize, structure, and frame your scenes first, giving you full control.
1. Creating a Project and Importing Your Script
Click New Project and choose to Start from a script.
Select your script file from your computer and hit Confirm (processing takes about 30 seconds).
Next open the Script Sidebar on the left. Katalist automatically splits your script into scenes and shots.
Then click Add to Canvas on a scene to drop its visual scaffold directly onto your workspace.
2. Generating Character and Location Assets
Katalist prepares image generation cards for both your characters and locations which you can generate before the shots.
Click on the ungenerated character card.
Proceed to edit the image prompt, aspect ratio, resolution. model and frame type.
Once done, click Generate Frame and your character is automatically assigned to every frame card where they're referenced.
Repeat the same process for your location asset.
3. Creating Storyboard Frames and Organizing the Workspace
With your visual assets added to the canvas, click on each frame card to preview and generate it (following the same process used for characters and locations).
Keep your canvas organized by highlighting multiple frames and clicking Create Group.
Rename the overall group or individual elements on the canvas.
Use the Add New Image or Add New Video buttons to add new generators, or drag and drop your own pre-existing media directly onto the canvas.
4. Converting Frames to Video Clips and Exporting
Once satisfied with your images, click on a storyboard frame and select Add to New Video.
Adjust your video settings, write your prompt, and click Generate Video.
Note: Video generation can take a few minutes to process. If needed, you can regenerate clips until you're satisfied with the result.
To download individual clips: Select the clip and click the Download icon.
To export a complete video: Drag and drop your generated video clips onto the timeline to arrange your sequence, switch to the full Timeline view, and click Export to save your final video.
