You could have an incredible project, the most creative story. But if the characters don’t feel real or connect with your audience, can you really say your project is unique? That’s why in this guide, we’ll focus on personalizing your characters to truly make it your own.

1. Personalizing Characters While Creating a Project:

You can either select from the pre-made characters or customize your own. To edit a character:

  • Click the pen icon on the pre-made character.

  • Create a Character from Scratch:

In the Change Appearance box that opens, click Create Character from Scratch to start personalizing.

  • Enter a Description:

Provide a brief description of your character’s appearance (e.g., “Young adult black woman with curly hair, blue eyes and deep red lips).

  • Upload a Character Face Reference (Optional):

Optionally, you can upload a photo reference for your character's face. Ensure the image is well-lit and high quality for the best results.

  • Generate Preview:

After uploading your face reference (if you choose to), click Generate Preview to see how your character looks. If satisfied, click Save if not you can always Regenerate preview.

  • Character Added to Your Project:

Next customize the Name, Clothes, and Voice to match the personality and once you click save, the character will be added to your project.

2. Personalizing Characters Within an Existing Project:

  • Add a Character to Your Project:

If your project is already created, simply click on Add Character at the top right in storyboard to add a new one.

To continue, follow the same steps as previously detailed to customize your character.

Reusing and Customizing Characters

In the future, you can reuse this character in other projects without needing to create it from scratch again, as it will be saved in your Character Library. Additionally, you can reference your characters in scenes using the "@" symbol. This includes them directly in the scene, making it easy to connect them to your storyline.
