How to make Complete AI videos With Katalist (Full tutorial)

Step-by-step process to create a full video in katalist from scratch

1. Sign Up and Start Your Video Creation

  • Visit Katalist website and sign up with your email and password.

  • Once you're logged in, you’ll see different options to get started. You can click the "Blank Project" button to start from scratch, Upload your script or select the “AI Script Assistant” option.

Like us, if you're busy and don’t have the time to create a new project from scratch, you can simply use the AI Script Assistant” Why? It gives you speed and you can build up something just from ideas.


2. Generate Your Script with AI

  • Click on the "AI Script Assistant" and enter your story idea.

  • For example, you might type in something nostalgic and heartfelt like “an unforgettable family trip”.

  • Then click Generate Script, and you’ll generate a full script with scenes.

  • Tap on the pen icon to review and edit the script where necessary and click Next to continue.


3. Choose Your Style

  • Choose from 10 preset styles including "Cinematic," "Sketch," and "Cartoon” “Sketch” .

  • Need a more personalized style? Click on the Create your style buttonbutton” to upload a sample style that fits your vision.

  • Once the style is set, click Next to proceed.


4. Personalize Your Characters

You can either select from the pre-made characters or customize your own. To edit a character:

  • Click the pen icon on the pre-made character.

  • In the Change Appearance box, you can either click +Create from Scratch or choose from a variety of Default characters.

  • Once you've selected the character’s face, customize their outfit and choose a voice that fits their personality.

  • Click Save to finalize the input.

  • Choose your aspect ratio in the top-right corner—Landscape, Portrait, or Square—and then click Create Project to proceed.


5. Generate Your Storyboard

  • Katalist will now automatically generate a storyboard with scenes based on your script within 1-2 minutes.

  • Review each frame and adjust anything that doesn’t match your creative vision—change characters, locations, or even the dialogue.

  • Once satisfied, move on to final video creation by switching the Storyboard to Timeline.

We’re almost done there, but let’s show you how to achieve the most when editing your Image to your desired result.


Achieving Precision with Edit Controls

This is where Katalist truly shines. Switch to the Timeline, click on the scene you'd like to edit using the Pen Icon, and select any of the controls located at the left or at the bottom to achieve precision.

  • Character Posing Tool: Use this feature to get the positioning quite right, you can move your characters around. Double click to change their gestures, actions, or even their location in the scene.

  • Image Crop Tool: If any parts of the frame feel off use the crop tool to easily remove unwanted elements.

  • Generative Field Tool: If there’s something you don’t like or wish to add to the scene, simply highlight the area and type in a description. For example, if you don’t like a building in the background, type “blue sky” and Katalist will modify it accordingly.

  • Add an Image: Want to add something personal? Upload an image to make the scene more unique.

  • Action: This is perfect for making your characters move, or engage in actions that fit your storyline. Simply describe the action you want your character to perform in the scene.

  • Dialogue: Add lip-sync dialogue to your characters and control exactly what they say to make the scene more natural.

  • Video Type: Choose from different video options based on the scene length. Use Stable Diffusion for quick scenes, Runway Gen 3 for longer scenes, or Google VEO 2 for smoother, more polished scenes.

On the bottom panel, you can also adjust the shot type (close-up, wide shot, etc.) and change the point of view. The options are limitless, giving you the control to truly make the video match your vision.


6. Finalizing the Project

  • Once you’ve edited the scene to your liking, you can download it as a single video by clicking the Download button in the top-right corner.

  • To download the entire video, return to the Timeline and click Generate All Videos.
    On the pop up, select the video type—Stable Diffusion, Runway 3, or Google Video 2 and click Generate Videos.

  • Once the process is complete, hit the Export button and you’ll now have a professional-quality video, ready to share with the world.
